Boredom Busting This School Holidays – Craft Edition

Welcome to week two of the school holidays – when the excitement of freedom wears off and boredom sets in!

Try these out of the box, crafty ideas to keep the doldrums away.

Decorate Socks!

With Halloween coming up this is a perfect time to make some crazy socks inspired by MADMIA’s Zany pairs! Start with a pair of white or coloured high socks and get creative! You could use fabric paints, or glue on pompoms, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and puffy stickers – really the sky is the limit with how crazy you go. A fun project that might just inspire your kiddos to decorate the rest of their Halloween costume themselves! They may love them so much they keep them to wear again on crazy sock day at school – or make another pair 🤩

String Popcorn Chains!

A simple way to combine an afternoon snack with a bit of fun. Pop some plain popcorn, or just get a bag of pre-popped, then a needle and thread or dental floss is all you need to get the kids started. Challenge them to see who’s string is the longest!

Make a box kitchen!

Use old cardboard boxes to make a play kitchen, they can make it themselves if the crafting part is what they like, or with some help from you if they love the pretending to cook part of the game better. Many household items can be incorporated, try toilet roll for mini paper towels, cut used plastic bottles or milk jugs to create dishes. Bottle caps can become knobs and buttons. Markers or paint will transform your masterpiece. They can cook all day for mum and dad, or all their stuffies!

Hopefully these ideas have inspired you to get crafty. We have lots of new arrivals to keep your kids stylish and comfortable while they play!
